    Mapping and Estimating Vegetation Coverage in Iraqi Kurdistan Region using Remote Sensing and GIS

    Maps and estimates vegetation cover across the Kurdistan Region using satellite imagery and geographic information systems. Combining work undertaken in Duhok in 2014 with work in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Halabja and Garmian in 2015, it presents vegetation distribution by administrative area and elevation. The report supports forest, rangeland and land-management planning.

    Fifth National Report to the Convention on Biological Diversity

    Updates Iraq’s biodiversity status, trends and threats, and considers their implications for human well-being. It reviews the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan, its implementation and the integration of biodiversity into other sectors. The report also assesses progress towards the Aichi Biodiversity Targets and relevant Millennium Development Goals.

    National Report on Biodiversity in Iraq

    Presents an overview of Iraq’s ecosystems, biodiversity, major threats and conservation responses. The report reviews biodiversity indicators, relevant strategies, institutional needs and activities supporting environmental protection. It provides a national baseline for developing conservation plans and fulfilling Iraq’s reporting obligations under the Convention on Biological Diversity.
