This species is active during both day and night. It is an agile species that actively searches for food. It is a solitary species that rests in prey burrows and under rocks. Vocal communication and scent marking have been observed in this species. It is an excellent climber and a good swimmer. The diet primarily consists of small rodents. It may also prey on other small mammals such as hares and mole rats, as well as birds, eggs, lizards, amphibians, fish, insects, and occasionally carrion.
