This species is distributed throughout all governorates of the KRI. It has been recorded from 38 localities, ranging from the plains of Garmian, Erbil, and Kirkuk governorates to the mountainous mixed oak forests of Halabja, Sulaimani, Erbil, and Duhok governorates. This species is nocturnal, although it can rarely be observed during the day. It rests in dens located in natural caves, under rocks, or in excavated burrows.
