This species is rare in the Kurdistan Region. It can be found in clean water bodies and natural springs in mountainous and subalpine regions. It has only been recorded from the Halgurd-Sakran Mountains in Erbil Governorate and Hazar Kani from Basne Village in Sulaymaniyah Governorate. The species is intolerant of low humidity. It primarily feeds on insects, especially beetles, as well as other invertebrates.
