The Black-tailed Godwit is a migratory wading bird with long legs, a long straight bill, a white rump and a black tail. Its plumage becomes reddish during the breeding season and grey-brown in winter. It feeds on small animals in wetland mud and shallow water. Wetland drainage and habitat degradation threaten the species. It is listed as Near Threatened.
