Location
It can be found in all governorates of the KRI, particularly near human settlements. It has been recorded from Bamo Mountain, Horen, and Kalar in the Garmian area; Hawraman in Halabja Governorate; Sulaimani City, Delezha, Bnary Suren, Dokan, and Charmo in Sulaimani Governorate; Erbil City and Haji Omaran in Erbil Governorate; and Sarseng in Duhok Governorate. It is a nocturnal species, occasionally active during the day. It digs burrows among rocks, under bushes, and in old houses. This species is social and lives in colonies or family groups. The colonies usually have one dominant male. It is omnivorous, and its diet mainly consists of invertebrates, seeds, grains, and vegetation.
