The occurrence of this species in Iraq remains uncertain. It has been reported in several publications from the Kurdistan Region, particularly Erbil Governorate; however, these records lack photographic evidence or specimens deposited in scientific collections. The species inhabits a variety of aquatic habitats, including wetlands, lakes, ponds, pools, and streams. Females lay individual eggs, which they fold into submerged leaves or attach to plant roots.
